The Corridor on the 3rd Floor serves as the central hall connecting the various rooms on this floor. After exiting the Storage Closet, the protagonist has the choice of entering any of the four rooms in the hallway. Due to the age of Derceto however, the boards in the center of the hallway are no longer able to support the weight of the player.

After the protagonist first enters Derceto and walks across the center of the Corridor, the boards become unstable. If the player passes through the center of the hallway from either side, the floor will give way leading the protagonist to an early grave. This can be avoided by passing through two of the rooms. While no enemies are initially met in the Corridor, Ghouls can be seen entering other rooms from the Corridor.

Carnby need to enter the study room first to get the sword from the chest. Once he step on the rug there, then the door will close and a ghoul will appear behind the door. Carnby need to travel between dressing room and bedroom to get to the other side of the corridor. The last room before the stairwell is the bathroom in which a rare flask can be found.

Trivia[]

  • If the player avoids the ghoul (zombie) by closing the door in the Dressing Room, then when the player exits the Master Bedroom into the corridor, the ghoul will be seen attacking the Dressing Room door and will continue to do so unless it is alerted to the player's presence. If the ghoul is so alerted, then it will walk across the weak spot in the floor, but not fall through. This could be some influence on the part of Ezekiel Pregst.
  • The absence of background under the weak floor may suggest that the black abyss is not simply a death drop (as with the Underground Bridge), but could be some supernatural anomaly. [Citation needed]
  • The official strategy guide sums the floor up thusly..."...you end up as the fall guy...and all hell breaks loose!"
  • The 3rd floor will collapse only if the player gets on it. If objects are pushed on it or if creatures walk on it, it will hold up.
