Anna is a minor character in Alone in the Dark (2008). She is the first person found by Edward Carnby during the commotion in the beginning of the game, who also becomes the first Humanz to be faced by him.

Biography[]

Background[]

Secretary of a Psychologist's Office in New York, Anna is a very common woman. Before the disaster in the city proves very frightening, screaming, crying, and sometimes he is thrown away from scattered phrases. However, it is among the first people to realize that the cracks that destroy the hotel have their own life, and it is also very enterprising when, despite the fears, they venture into the cornices of the hotel to look for a way to escape. It is unclear whether there is a relationship with the psychologist for which she works for is purely of a professional nature or if the two are also sentimentally linked, in the short circumstance in which he has to deal with them the girl remains disgusted by her materialism and calls it "a Bastard".

Events of Alone in the Dark (2008)[]

She is found by Carnby after escaping from the fire escape of a burning apartment, panic stricken after witnessing the living cracks in the walls, saying that they were after them. She pleads with Carnby to help her friend, who was trapped behind a door and too injured to knock it down.

While Carnby was putting out the fire that was blocking the way, they followed and argued. As Carnby jumped over a gap in the floor, the ceiling caved in and blocked the way, and a fissure took the psychologist, but Anna managed to escape. Carnby later encountered her again, saying that they should find Jack the Watchman, who knows what to do about the building. When the floor gave way separating Carnby and Anna, she was attacked and taken away by a Fissure. When Carnby met up with Jack, they saw Anna, who had her back turned. Jack went over to her, who reveals to have now turned into something else. She was taken and possessed by an entity, who reveals to know about Carnby's past and their history.

Not understanding a thing, Carnby question it, and the entity demands the stone. After getting insulted by Carnby, they start a fight, which Carnby wins by exterminating the possessed Anna with fire.

PS2/Wii version[]

In PS2 and Wii version, Anna's role remains almost unchanged, but disappears with the psychologist after the collapse that separates her from Edward. It is unclear whether she survived or became a Humanz, like in the other version.

Strategy[]

When Anna has become Humanz, she attacks Carnby with her hands. There is a sword on the floor nearby that Carnby can use to defend himself, it would only be able to temporarily incapacitate it. Like the rest of the Humanz, it can only be destroyed with fire, thus Carnby has to pick up a chair, hold a chair next to a fire, and then hit the possessed thing with the fiery tip, which dissolves the body into nothing.

Trivia[]

  • The Humanz of Anna is the first enemy to be fought during the game.
  • In the game menu, among the various pictures of Central Park, there will be one of a man and a woman hugging. Curiously, these are the Hammet and Anna character models that, in the game, never meet.
