Celeste, a.k.a. The Witch (real name: Sara Hartwood) is the great-granddaughter of Emily Hartwood and a playable character in Alone in the Dark: Illumination.
Background
The Witch is the great-granddaughter of Emily Hartwood. After her various other-worldly encounters with Edward Carnby, Emily Hartwood began to dabble in the supernatural world. But unlike other occult practitioners she met, Emily learned only what she needed to protect herself.
Her great-granddaughter, the Witch, followed in her footsteps and also studied the supernatural arts. From a young age, the Witch had a natural gift for magic, and her abilities far surpassed those of her other family members. The Witch swore to use her abilities to help others, and help protect the world from evil forces, such as those that terrorized her family.
Alone in the Dark: Illumination
Three days earlier, the Order's queen had dispatched a trio of the most powerful Third Degree Priestesses to Lorwich to investigate a powerful physic disturbance. The last communication that the Queen received had received from the group was the equivalent of a telepathic S.O.S. It had come from somewhere dark, deep underground.
The High Priestess forbade Celeste from leaving the covenstead, as she was only a Wiccan of the Second Degree and had only recently demonstrated a tenuous control of the Craft. Her sisters, she had been told, could take care of themselves, but Celeste absconded to Lorwich anyway.
Now, at the train station, Celeste has to search for a way underground to find her sisters.
Primary Weapons and Abilities
- Lightning Strike (replaced Colt as default weapon)
- Burning Glow
- Fireball (replaced Lightning Crawler ability)
- Draining Curse (newly added in latest patch)
In the previous patch of the game, the Witch formerly used to be armed with a colt revolver as a basic weapon. This has since been replaced with the Lightning Strike, which was more powerful but needed to be replenished with magic.
When using melee, the witch's striking hand is covered in electricity, possibly to augment the power of her melee.
