|Location(s)||Lorwich (and the town's surrounding area)|
|Game(s)||Alone in the Dark: Illumination|
Shapes or Servants of The Darkness were used to describe the creatures that invaded the town of Lorwich. they appear to the servants of the Old Ones, including Cthulhu. At least most of the Shapes appear suddenly within a dark mist.
When the town unleashed the creatures within the mine, it was believed that the slaughtering of people were dismissed as animal attacks.
Not much is known about the shapes, other than having an aversion to light, such as a fire or even an electrical light. When using the Priest's charged up attack, simpler creatures such as the Wraiths and demons combust. Stronger, more durable creatures such as Hell Hound and Goblins make them vulnerable for a time to attacks, as if it is affected by a source of light.
Lightning is also harmful towards the creatures, as seen with the lightning conducting wire The Ghost Town.
- Witch's basic attack, lightning bolt, is mostly fatal to the basic creatures.
- Light that has been enhanced by the Martense order magic (burning glow) attacks the creatures of darkness in addition to rendering them vulnerable.
- Interestingly, the glow of the Old One's blood renders the Shape's skins invulnerable.
- Originally, it was speculated to have been the name of a type of enemy, with the name of the group being called Servants of the Darkness. In the recent patch announcements, Shapes were seemed to be mentioned as the overall term for the enemies in the game [verification needed].
